The development and implementation of any Morenian institution or organization is rooted in contradiction and ambivalence: Moreno was against what he called “cultural conserves”, and yet nobody fought more than him for recognition and survival of his legacy. He claimed that he published his ideas anonymously, yet we know that he also made sure that all his publications were  firmly attached to his name.    
Even though the cradle of his contributions rests in Europe, especially around Vienna, his views matured in the USA. When he died in 1974, the question arose as to how to preserve his legacy and build on his contributions.
