Primary and Secondary Capacities of First Grade Nursing Students in the Context of Positive Psychotherapy

EBRU SINICI

Abstract: The purpose of this study is to present the relation between the primary and secondary capacities which are identified within Wiesbaden Positive Psychotherapy and the Family Therapy Inventory, with reference to psychological symptoms. The female students (N=75) were all studying in the first year of the Gulhane School of Nursing in Ankhara, Turkey. Participants were asked to answer the self evaluating scale of the Wiesbaden Positive Psychotherapy and Family Therapy Inventory and the Symptom Checklist 90-Revised (SCL 90-R).
According to the analysis, the stress of young girls separating from their parents and entering into nursing school is significant and can bring out a number of latent symptoms, including some surprisingly serious ones. This suggests that there is a need for support and counselling for the students in the first year of university education.
