Group Dynamics in Scapegoating

Tom Ormay

Abstract: Scape-goating within groups happens more oen than we would like to admit. It happens in families, workplaces, in various political groups, and in social settings. Yet the subject is not oen discussed in the professional literature, or in seminars. To understand it more clearly, we need to examine both the individual function of the ego, and the lately added social function of ‘nos’ that develops out of the social instinct and makes us relate to groups. In the clinical example, we can see how this topic can be worked with.
Keywords: scapegoat, sacrice, nos, transitory state, psychodynamic.
