A case of hysterical impotence and anesthesia: Tom Ormay

Introduction

The following sketch of a case history is about a successful treatment of hysterical impotence – anaesthesia of the penis, in a young man.
I gave symptom-oriented therapy, one session a week. The symptom was resolved in eight months. We could have terminated treatment, but he wished to stay, because as he put it: therapy was a good investment, it did not only dissolve the symptom he came with, but it also helped him to go ahead in his profession.
The case history is restricted to the first eight months of therapy when he worked on his symptom of impotence and anaesthesia.
